Purpose Statement

Bethesda Jeba Aikkiam (Prayer Fellowship) exists to meet the spiritual and the physical needs of community and thereby to produce fruitful Christ-centred environment through unceasing prayer, supporting and sending missionaries to the corners of various cultures, aiding the poor in all meaningful ways, delievering the individuals and families from the bondages of sins and evil spirits to create a sequence of prayer to witness the bravura working hand of God in people’s life. A Simple beginning

This prayer fellowship started with two or three families who had a desire and burden to pray for others. And this continued to carry on at regular interval, which in turn developed an inspiration to initiate a prayer fellowship group. This small fellowship that started in a small house made its way to a shed and now functions in a well built prayer Hall.   When we started prayer with united hearts, we felt the necessity to work more in an effective manner and henceforth the desire to work with a vision came true. Prayer dominated in all the sessions of gatherings. As we continued to pray God unfolded His will and from then on this mission and prayer movement called Bethesda Jeba Aikkiam came into existence.

Bro. S. Paul Gnanam

With the sprightly leadership of Bro. S. Paul Gnanam, this prayer fellowship has grown in many ways. He is a model for ardent prayer and has conquered many youngsters for Christ by his prayer and spiritual life. He was born as the eldest son to a teacher. He had a very troubled childhood with severe family problems. He had to shoulder the burden of family.  He finished his schoolings and joined the teacher training school and was unable to go for higher studies due to financial crisis. After he got trained as a teacher, he became a teacher in a small middle school in a village called Veeramanickam in Tuticorin District. Even this life as a teacher did not earn him much happiness as his family crisis continued to strangle him in many ways. He had to work to clear his family debt. He was affected by evil spirits and became sick. He got problems in his heart. He was unable to sleep at nights and lost his peacefulness. This forced him to attempt suicide and on the verge of a decision between life and death, he accepted Lord Jesus as his personal saviour. Though was born and brought up in a Christian family, he neither understood the Christian values nor was there anyone to lead him in a Christian life. It was only after this divine intervention with God that liberated him from the thought of suicide; he committed his life for Jesus. Soon God did so many miracles to and through him. God has blessed him with children after five years of marriage. God delivered him from the hands of evil spirits and this gave him the courage and a burden to pray for those who got affected by evil spirits.

Thus God called him for the ministry and he started his ministry as a catechist in a small village church. He joined this church as a catechist even before he accepted Lord Jesus. This work as a catechist changed completely after he got this call for ministry. He got anointed by the Holy Spirit in this small CSI church. He started this Prayer fellowship with a burden for those affected by evil spirits in their life. God has anointed this servant of God with His gift to liberate people from the bondages of sin and evil spirits and it is by God’s grace and his Grace alone has done mighty deeds through him.
